I never thought I would see the day. The Revolution got mentioned on the local sports network.

I have been working on an idea for an article on the lack of coverage the Revs get in the mainstream media, especially TV. The local papers do a pretty good job of reporting the scores, but it is always on the back pages of the sports section and never more than one article per paper, and never more than three papers a week.

Granted its tough to be in professional sports in Boston competing against the likes of the Patriots and the Red Sox. Even the Bruins and the Celtics with their storied legacies are competing for third place against those two monoliths of professional sports. With the amount of sports content in this town, you could fill two newspapers on those four teams alone.

But it really started to bother me while watching the Boston Red Sox during the world series. Listening to Joe Buck and Tim McCarver is bad enough, but to have to listen to them talk about how things are looking so good for Boston Sports right now with the Patriots undefeated, and the Celtics are revamped, and even the Bruins are looking good. Two months ago I made the case for dismissing Martin Jol.  This past week, after much conjecture and a poorly managed transition by the Spurs board, Jol is gone and Juande Ramos is now the manager at White Hart Lane.

And to be honest, I don’t think there could be a more perfect man for the job.  Juande is a hard disciplinarian who is committed to attacking football and will employ a tactical system that can adapt to the current team until he can strengthen in January.  He may not get Spurs a top four finish this year, but he may well get them a cup or two.  And his abilities will allow Spurs supporters to forget the nightmare that has been the beginning of the season.

Back when I was calling for Jol’s head, I based my argument on four key points.  I want to use these four concerns as a starting point for why I believe Juande Ramos is the perfect manager for this team.

Oh what a weekend! Where do I start? Should I start with all the Boddingtons I drank? Ooo! Maybe we all the naughty schoolgirls I met dressed up for Halloween even though it wasn’t Halloween yet. But I digress; this is a family show so I'll start with the big game between Liverpool and some small team from London. That game is further proof that and exciting game can end in a tie. I've been a massive critic of Rafa Benitez' rotation policy but way too many people are now blaming everything on rotation. Rafa surely has a rotation problems but he also has a problem with illogical substitution patterns. See the Gerrard sub against Everton. See bringing Arbeloa on instead of Babel on the weekend. He also loves to play players out of position. Obviously he's played Gerrard wide but, there's also his use of Cisse, a striker as a winger. Is it any surprise he's doing the same with Babel, another striker. So Liverpool drew because it was an even game not because of any major Benitez screw up.
