Other of baseball and the TV show "Friends" there are few things that bore me as much as watching the U.S. National team play. Paint dries with more flair and creativity. They play is slow and everyone needs three touches on the ball. The U.S. team is boring because they continues to cap the same journeymen strikers that can’t shoot, they have no true attacking central midfielder, and they generally don’t focus on skill and attacking football.
Football is about one thing and that's scoring the most goals. The first step to curing the striking woes is to stop rewarding failure. That is, stop picking players that can’t shoot. It’s not good enough to take a penalty or get tap-ins in MLS. A striker who doesn't score should get benched. Subs that don’t perform should get dropped. A striker that can't score is just another defender who's out of position. Unfortunately American managers pick the wrong mold of players. They pick big guys that can’t dribble, can’t shoot, and have no creativity or flair. Unfortunately strikers that fail at the international level continue to get U.S. call ups. The bottom line is if a striker cannot score or is in poor club form he shouldn’t get a national call up no matter what his name is. Sadly call ups aren’t always based on merit.

Round three of the English championship has come and gone rather quickly. Typically quite a few surprises appear in the table at this early point, clearly nothing has been won or lost, players are yet to be added, or yet to appear on the pitch due to injury. But who would have predicted that Champions United would have two points after home to Reading, and away to Portsmouth and Citeh? Ronaldo, reigning player of the year is the first to be suspended for three matches, and has yet to score a goal. Nani looks a bit lightweight to these eyes, Hargreaves slid into the side rather easily and it looks to me when Neville returns United will be harder to score upon that last season. Continued ... |

 Daniel Feuerstein I got out of my job at three o’clock Saturday afternoon, gassed up the car and headed towards the Meadowlands for the big arrival of David Beckham. Drove towards my favorite parking lot in section 16A to hang out with my mates of the ESC (Empire Supporters Club), sing a couple of songs, take in the atmosphere in a half filled parking lot. Everyone was grilling, drinking, singing, playing a little recreational footy and the best thing out of all this was that RBNY supporters wanted to take three points away from the Galaxy.
